WE ALL HAVE RED BLOOD

Why all the fuss about the color of one's skin? We all have one thing in common: red blood.

Years ago, a Negro man brought his sick lawn mower to the lawn-mower shop run by my husband and me. He was acting as if he might not be welcome because he was black. There were very few black people in our little city at the time. I asked him, ``What color is your blood?'' He looked surprised and said, ``It's red.'' And I then said, ``So is mine.'' He grinned and relaxed. We repaired his mower and he was a happy man and I hope he learned something. I know I did.

It shouldn't matter what color the skin; more important is character and honesty and taking care of your fellow man, no matter the color of his skin.
