Nick Barnes, 68, of Tulls Bay Colony, died Oct. 23, 1995.
Mr. Barnes was born in Edenton, N.C. He was the son of the late James Frank Barnes and Milisie Kennedy. He was a loving father, husband and former baseball coach for Great Bridge Little League for 11 years. He was a devout Christian who attended Providence Baptist Church. Mr. Barnes was a retired longshoreman for H.R.A. - I.L.A. Local (NU)1840.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cornelia Mae Muse Barnes; three daughters, Pat Waters and her husband, Ray of Chesapeake, Connie Foreman and her husband, Steve, and Miss Rhonda Barnes of Moyock; one son, David Barnes of Moyock; two sisters, Melissa Woolard and her husband, Johnny, Betty Tatem and her husband, Harvey, all of Chesapeake; three brothers, James Frank Barnes Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Florida, Melvin Barnes and his wife, Shirley, also of Florida, William C. Barnes of Athens, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Darin Ely of Wytheville, Va., Kathryn Waters of Chesapeake, April Foreman, Steven Foreman, and Christopher Barnes, all of Moyock.
A visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Twiford Colonial Chapel in Great Bridge. A chapel service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Tom Hall. Woodley J. Koonce III will deliver the eulogy. Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of Providence Baptist Church, Shawboro, N.C.
