W.F. MOREFIELD

W.F. ``Tennessee'' Morefield, 70, formerly of Portsmouth, died Oct. 24, 1995, in Salem, Va.

Mr. Morefield retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Shop 41. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and well-known Bluegrass Musician in the Tidewater area.

Survivors include his wife, Joel Morefield; three daughters, Linda Kay Mercer and Charlotte Faulkner, both of Portsmouth, Pamela Jo Smithson of Chesapeake; one son, Robert D. Morefield of Portsmouth; two sisters, Verna Mae Greer of Vinton, Va., and Kate Walker of Neva, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and other times at 3511 Craig St., Portsmouth.
