Stella Batts Halstead, 70, of the 300 block of Briarfield Drive, died Oct. 24, 1995, in a Chesapeake hospital.
Mrs. Halstead was born in Nash County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Cooper and Maggie Whitehead Batts. She was a member of Rosemont Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Halstead; her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Francis Bartlett of Chesapeake; her sister, Maggie Mae Sprowl of New Hampshire; her brother, George Batts of Sharpsburg, N.C.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Robert Harrell. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Portsmouth-Chesapeake Unit, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
