Bessie B. Howard, 96, died Oct. 26, 1995, in her residence.
She was the retired owner and operator of Collins Grocery Store in Norfolk for many years. She was a native of King and Queen Co., Va., and was the widow of John Wesley Howard. She was a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann H. Woodruff of Norfolk; brother, Archie Brooke of Mechanicsville, Va.; one granddaughter, Lynne Downing of Virginia Beach; close friend, Debbie Perez of Virginia Beach; and her loving pet dog, Michael.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence following the service. Memorial donations may be made to The Masonic Home, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, Va. 23223. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, in charge.
