Paul Durwood Backus, 74, died Oct. 24, 1995, in his home.
Mr. Backus, a native of Norfolk, was an Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Phillips Oldsmobile, as a parts department assistant manager, after 15 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Backus; one daughter, Joyce Lee McClimond of Saudi Arabia; one son, Warren D. Backus of Virginia Beach; one sister, Margaret Beatty of Colonial Beach, Va.; two brothers, Quincy Backus of Richmond, Robert G. Backus of Hopewell, Va.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today in Forest Lawn Cemetery with military honors. Smith and Williams Funeral Home in charge.
