Norfolk Southern Corp. will close a small locomotive repair shop at its coal yard at Lamberts Point in Norfolk, railroad spokesman Rob Chapman said Thursday. The closing effects five workers, he said. One is taking early retirement; the others are being offered other jobs at the railroad. Locomotives will still be fueled and otherwise serviced at Lamberts Point, but repairs will be performed at a shop in Roanoke. ``It's just a part of our continuing effort to become more efficient,'' Chapman said.
