TONIGHT'S FOOTBALL GAMES

Western Branch visits Indian River tonight in a matchup of Southeastern District powers in need of recharging.

The No. 6 Bruins (6-1, 4-0) are coming off a shocking loss to Lake Taylor at Harbor Park, in which all three Titans touchdowns came on returns.

No. 3 Indian River (6-1, 3-0) lost to No. 1 Deep Creek two weeks ago and needed a touchdown in the final 20 seconds to edge Great Bridge 7-0 last week.

``As high as Great Bridge was, we were that low,'' Indian River coach Bob Parker said.

Western Branch coach Lew Johnston said his team took heart at how Indian River struggled against the Wildcats.

``Our kids saw that and said these guys are beatable,'' Johnston said.

Elsewhere, No. 5 Booker T. Washington (6-1, 2-0) can clinch at least a tie for the Eastern District title by beating Maury (2-5, 1-0) at Harbor Park.

In the Beach District, No. 7 Kempsville tries to bounce back from its first loss of the season, hosting Ocean Lakes. And No. 4 Tallwood, who moved up in the Beach picture by dealing Kempsville that defeat, visits Bayside in a game moved up to 5:30 p.m. MEMO: [For a copy of the games scheduled, record, outlook and Pilot Picks, see
