JACK B. TALLENT

John Birmingham ``Jack'' Tallent, 90, of the 5900 block of Gainor Place, died Thursday evening, Oct. 26, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.

He was the widower of Vada Fogg Tallent and May A. Tallent. He was born in Medford, Mass., and has lived in Norfolk since 1954. He served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1960 as a commander. Following his Navy retirement he served on the staff of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce for 12 years, retiring in 1973 as the general manager.

Mr. Tallent was a veteran of World War II and Korea, and attended Boston College, Harvard, and Ohio State Universities. He was a past president of the Bayside Lions Club, former member of the Norfolk Host Lions Club, Retired Officers Association, and was the founder and first governor of Toastmasters International, Virginia District No. 66

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Tallent Bloom of Tacoma, Wash.; and a son, John B. Tallent II of Foster City, Calif.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday, in the Cox Funeral Home chapel by Fr. William J. Dale. Entombment of his remains with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norfolk Host Lions Club Foundation, c/o James L. Miller, P.O. Box 3416, Norfolk Va. 23414.
