WILLIAM S. PITT SR.

William S. Pitt Sr., 74, of the 3200 block of Stockton Lane, died Oct. 23, 1995, in his residence.

Mr. Pitt, a cement finisher, worked for Burial Vault Co. He was a native of Wilson County, N.C.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Pitt of Portsmouth; three daughters, Barbara Ann Pitt of Chesapeake, Rachel Hill of Portsmouth, Carolyn Pitt of Virginia Beach; three sons, William S. Pitt Jr., James E. Pitt, Willie Pitt, all of Portsmouth; four sisters, Louise Pitt, Carrie McClanahan, Olivia Robinson, all of Spring Valley, N.Y., and Bessie Jefferson of Los Angeles; one brother, Charles Pitt of North Babylon, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral will be at noon today in New First Baptist Taylorsville, Portsmouth, by Dr. T.M. Steele. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Gardens, Portsmouth. Family and friends will assemble at 366 Wilson Parkway at 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the church. Serenity Funeral Home, Portsmouth, in charge.
