A 22-month-old girl was in critical condition in a hospital Friday after being hit by a pickup, police said.
The girl, Margaret A. Surdel, was struck as she tried to retrieve a doll from the path of the truck that was backing down a driveway.
The accident occurred in the 1000 block of Layton St. while the girl was in the care of a babysitter.
The driver of the pickup will not be charged, police said.
