James Henry ``Pop'' Fatherly Jr., 91, of the 400 block of Cornwall Drive, died Oct. 21, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Fatherly, a native of Norfolk, was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a painter. He was a Lutheran and a member of Portsmouth Moose Lodge (NU)898.
Survivors include his wife, Jenilee E. Fatherly; two daughters, Sandra Fatherly Carmine and Cipe Furguson, both of Portsmouth; two sons, James Henry Fatherly III of Chesapeake, Darvy L. Fatherly of Newberg, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren, Patricia F. Cohen of Miami, Fla., Roger A. Fatherly, Diana F. Watkins, and Teresa F. Owens, all of Chesapeake; P. Ruth Johns of Valdosta, Ga., Robin Good of Fountain, Colo., Edward Fatherly of Chicago, Ill., Sarah Fatherly of Minnesota, D. Nicole Fatherly of Arizona, James D. Moore Jr. and Dawn M. McNamee, both of Virginia Beach, Catherine M. Staff and Tamblyn Moore, both of Portsmouth; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Oct. 24, 1995, in Olive Branch Cemetery, by the Rev. Jesse Ramage. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, in charge.
