I was very concerned to read that Michael New of Conroe, Texas, will face a court-martial for refusing to serve under the United Nations in Macedonia.
As a former member of the armed forces of the United States, I find it appalling that our government would seek to accuse this young man of disobeying a lawful order. When one joins the armed forces, he pledges to protect and defend the United States, not the United Nations.
I have contacted my representatives and I hope your readers will do the same.
