The Norfolk office of Consumer Affairs is cautioning consumers to avoid participating in pyramid promotional schemes. Across the country including Hampton Roads, persons are being asked to join these schemes and to invest money. Many of these programs are being promoted under the sales pitch of getting rich with long-distant telephone service. MERGERS
Etheridge, Baylor, Hofheimer Inc., a Virginia Beach independent insurance agency, has merged its office with Bell Insurance Corp. in Virginia Beach. Both offices will be Nationwide Insurance agencies.
Goodman & Co., certified public accounts, has merged with Erny & Mason. The firms will operate as Goodman & Co., with offices in Norfolk, Newport News, Richmond, Petersburg and Colonial Heights.
Lakeview Medical Center has become associated with Tidewater Physicians for Children Ltd. Construction of a new building is scheduled at the corner of Route 17 and College Drive in Portsmouth.

Dennis Koch has acquired a business license to operate College Planning and Financial Services in Virginia Beach.
Yukon Steak Co., a restaurant with an Alaskan fishing lodge character, has opened at Providence Square in Virginia Beach. A general partnership, Yukon Restaurants Inc., was set up by Bob Farrand Jr., president and director of restaurant operations. Others involved in the YSC Restaurants L.P. are Craig Shamas, Sandy Cohen, Charles McCotter, Chris Henderson, and Sam Stewart. The partnership expansion plans include company owned and franchised restaurants.
World of Oz, a tour operator to Turkey, has opened at 1427 North Great Neck Road, Suite A, Virginia Beach. The company headed by a mother and daughter team, Wynne Oz and Maura Oz-Nankervis, relocated from New York.
