George Frederick Miller, 82, of the 400 block of Ticonderoga Road, died in his residence on Oct. 27, 1995.
Mr. Miller was born in Phoebus, Va. He had retired as a chief electronics technician with civil service after 20 years of service. He had also retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief warrant officer. He was one of the first radiomen on the East Coast to receive and deliver the message that Japan had bombed Pearl Harbor. He was a member of V.F.W. Post (NU)392 in Virginia Beach.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgianna ``Sam'' McMillan and Jackie K. Miller; one son, Joel W. Miller, all of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Kelly West, Bobby West, Dana Miller, Christopher Miller, Tara Miller and Briana Miller; great-grandchildren, Mia West and Johnny West. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Virginia Monroe Miller.
The funeral will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Church of the Ascension by Father James Parke, with visitation at the church prior to the service from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be Wednesday at noon in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is in charge.
