Miriam Stringer Rakowski, 74, of the 4600 block of King St., died Sunday, Oct. 29, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mrs. Rakowski was a native of Portsmouth, daughter of the late Jesse M. and Elsie Fishel Stringer. She was retired from Portsmouth Gas Co. as a bookkeeper. She was a member of Cottage Place United Methodist Church, Lucille Johnson Circle of United Methodist Women, Winton-Friendship Sunday School Class and a lifetime member of Grove Park Garden Club.
Survivors include her husband, Edward J. Rakowski; a daughter, Joan and husband Joseph Morlino of Hamilton, Ohio; a son, Edward Mitchell and wife, Rose Mary Rakowski of Chesapeake; a sister, Doris Mae Swenberg of Naples, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Denis and wife, Kimberley Morlino of St. Marys, Ohio, Elisabeth Morlino of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Mary Anne Rakowski of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Cottage Place United Methodist Church by the Rev. James D. Thomas. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cottage Place United Methodist Church Building Fund.
