V. FLOYD WILLIAMS

V. Floyd Williams died on Saturday, Oct. 28, 1995.

He was the son of the late Ellen Floyd Williams and Virgil Blackstone Williams. His first wife, Mary Florence Williams, died in 1976.

He is survived by his present wife, Josephine DuVal Williams; two sons, George and David Williams; one stepson, Thomas C. Brock Jr.; three grandchildren; his brother, Dr. Fred M. Williams; two stepgrandchildren; two nieces; two great-nephews and one great-niece.

Mr. Williams was a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.S. degree and a law degree. He was a member of Sigma Nu Social Fraternity and Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity.

After World War II services as an officer in the U.S. Navy at sea in the Pacific, for which he received seven battle stars, he returned to the pratice of law in Alexandria, Va.

In 1949, he was elected City Attorney of the city of Alexandria and was re-elected for eight additional terms for a total of 27 years. He decided not to seek re-election upon the death of his first wife, Mary Florence Williams, in 1976.

Mr. Williams was a founder and first president of the Alexandria Business Men's Club. He was a member of the Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, the Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach and the Virginia Beach Sports Club.

Mr. Williams moved to Virginia Beach from Alexandria in 1991, where he remained until his death.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Pacific Avenue, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Georgianna V. Brabban. Mr. Williams will be buried on Wednesday Nov. 1, in Winchester National Cemetery, Winchester, Va., next to his first wife. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
