Charles Stephen Lany, 69, of Abingdon Circle, died Oct. 29, 1995 in Norfolk.
Mr. Lany was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor after 32 years. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Hurt Lany; a stepdaughter, Mary Gutberlet of Richmond; two stepsons, Louis Gutberlet of Suwanee, Ga. and Michael Gutberlet of Norfolk; a sister, Sophia Ronkowitz of Orange, N.J.; and five stepgrandchildren.
A Mass of the Ressurection will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, by Father Anselm Ober, OSB. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. tonight in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. Contributions may be made to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church Building Fund.
