Joseph Manly Cox Sr., 95, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 1995, at the Country Sunshine Rest Home near Richlands.
Mr. Cox was a World War I veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Norfolk Masonic Lodge and a former member of Richlands First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Barnes Cox and four brothers, Millard Lee, Hugh D., Woodrow W. and Rueben C. Cox.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Manly Cox Jr. of Bailey, N.C. and Millard Lee Cox of Norfolk; four sisters, Annie Mae Canady, Burmadell Whaley, Julia Grace Huffman, all of Richlands and Esther Huffman of Jacksonville, N.C.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Johnson-Gaskins Funeral Home, Richland, with the Rev. Eddie Phennix officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rosewood Memorial Park, 631 Witchduck Drive, Virginia Beach. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
