Accolades to former Norfolk Mayor Vince Thomas for his letter outlining the proper characteristics for the job of Circuit Court clerk. Mr. Thomas cited training, experience, integrity and temperament as the prerequisites in such a candidate.
He goes on to say that a candidate should possess an in-depth knowledge of statutory law, legal and court procedures, be an accomplished records manager and have some experience in personnel management and fiduciary compliance.
We have just such a candidate in the city of Virginia Beach. His name is Curtis Fruit, and he has been serving as Circuit Court clerk since 1980. He most definitely deserves to be re-elected on Nov. 7.
