Lester Hardy, of 712 Bolling St., died Oct. 27, 1995, in Autumn Care Nursing Home, Suffolk.
He was a native of Charleston, S.C. and was the widower of Ethel Hardy. He was retired from Union Camp Corporation after many years of service. He was a member of Union Chapel Church and Old Cool Spring Church. He served on the deacon board, trustee board, and was a Sunday school teacher at both churches.
He is survived by three sons, Eugene, Marion and Connell Hardy, of Richmond, Va.; four daughters, Hattie Stephens of Franklin, Queen Stephens, Mary Pugh, and Earlene James of Richmond; special friend, Ms. Carrie Whitfield and children; 34 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, Milton and Lester Hardy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Anthony Goodwyn. Burial is in Southview Cemetery. Elvin Vaughan Funeral Home, Franklin, in charge of arrangements.
