Thelma St. John Moose, of the 1800 block of Haverhill Drive, entered into the loving embrace of the Lord Jesus Christ on Oct. 28, 1995, after a short illness.
Mrs. Moose was the widow of Howard Monroe Moose. A retired salesperson, Mrs. Moose served as an Avon Representative, attaining President's Club status, for 25 years. She was a native of Roanoke, Va. and a member of the Congregational Pentecostal Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Va. Through her abiding love for the Lord, her infinite devotion to her children and grandchildren, and her endless compassion for people, she enriched the lives of all that she touched and served as a living witness to the Glory of God.
She is survived by a son, Howard M. Moose and his wife, Rita, of Grapevine, Texas; daughter, Jeanne M. Woroski and her husband, Ronald of Granbury, Texas; and a second daughter, Joanne ``Jodi'' M. Moore and her husband, Jessee of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jessee G. Moore III, Christopher M. Moose, Jodi M. Woroski, and Tara R. Moore. Other survivors include a brother, Cleveland ``Buddy'' St. John of Salem, Va.; and two sisters, Myrtle Robbins of Roanoke, Va. and Eunice Roberts of Grantsboro, N.C. She is also survived by a multitude of friends whom she loved and was loved by in turn.
The Rev. Mark Bailey will conduct a celebration of her life at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Congregational Pentecostal Baptist Church at 1514 Sparrow Road in Chesapeake. Burial will be at the side of her beloved husband in Evergreen Cemetery in Roanoke, Va. on Thursday at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. today. On Wednesday, the family will assemble at her home at 12:30 p.m. for the procession to the church.
