JAMES A. STEVERSON

James Alexander Steverson, of the 600 block of Marcus St., died Oct. 29, 1995, in Chesapeake General.

Mr. Steverson was born in Suffolk and was the widower of Olga Black Steverson. He was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 35 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute Street, Norfolk.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Clarg of Mitchville, Md., Olga Chappell of Chesapeake, and Cheryl Steverson of Portsmouth; two sons, Jimmie L. Steverson of Richmond and Tyrone Steverson of Virginia Beach; mother, Rosa S. Steverson; four sisters, Rosa Smith, Alice Skeeter, Dorothy Freeman, all of Suffolk, and Josephine Daughtry of Williamsburg; four brothers, Charlie Steverson, Wilbur Lee Steverson, John Henry Steverson and Lewis Steverson, all of Suffolk; one daughter-in-law, Barbara R. Steverson; three sons-in-law, Salone Clary, Larry Chappell and Andre Smith; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral will be conducted Friday, Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Dr. Robert G. Murray in First Baptist, Bute Street, Norfolk. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial, Chesapeake. Hale Funeral Home in charge. A wake will be Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist, Pleasant Hill, Suffolk. Family and friends will assemble at the home Friday at 12:30 p.m. for the processional to the church.
