Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools grabbed the gold ring at a ceremony honoring the state's most innovative schools in Raleigh last week.
Governor James B. Hunt Jr. named the district the top entrepreneurial schools winner in the state, from a field of a dozen schools and systems chosen for entrepreneurial awards.
Elizabeth City-Pasquotank had sent nearly 25 people to the reception where the announcement was made, School-Community Relations Director Charles White said Monday.
``Of all the school districts that were chosen . . . our school district went beyond the high level of quality'' required for the awards, White said. ``It's an incredible feeling for something like that to happen.'' by CNB
