Edith Farthing Harrell, 74, died Oct. 30, 1995, in Chippenham Medical Center, Richmond.
Mrs. Harrell was a member of the Waverly Congregational Christian Church and retired in 1976 from C&P Telephone Company as an operator with 25 years of service. She was the valedictorian of the class of 1961 at Waverly High School.
She is survived by a son, Preston Bryant Harrell of Waverly; two daughters, Judy H. Sollinger of Knightdale, N.C., Rose H. Cook of Tallahassee, Fla.; a sister, Rossie F. Titcomb of Richmond; a brother, Jack W. Farthing; five grandchildren, Leah Cook, Ryan Cook, Lisa Harrell, Regina Sollinger, Jennifer Sollinger; and a great-granddaughter, Kaiya Joy Shapiro.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Waverly Congregational Christian Church by Dr. David G. Brown Jr. Burial will be in the Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad or to the Waverly Congregational Christian Church.
