Willard Leon Fulcher, 78, a former resident of Decatur Street in South Norfolk, died Oct. 30, 1995, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk.
Mr. Fulcher was born in Berkley and was the son of the late Thomas L. and Elizabeth Scarborough Fulcher. He was a member of Ivor Baptist and a former member of South Norfolk Baptist Church in Chesapeake, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Station and served as a lay minister for many area churches. He was the husband of the late Gladys White Fulcher and brother of the late Harold T. Fulcher.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Willard L. ``Butch'' Jr. and Axie Fulcher of Ivor; a sister and brother-in-law, Edna F. and Watson Cobb of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Pearl White of Chesapeake; a grandson, Jon Christian Lee of Chester; and several nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Ivor Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Hughes, Rev. Billy Presley and Rev. Larry Burkhart. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and at the residence Thursday at 8395 Main St., Ivor, after the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Baptist Church, Willard L. Fulcher Memorial Fund and to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
