Joseph C. Mathis Jr., 50, of the 500 block of Weaver Circle, died Oct. 28, 1995, in Maryview Medical Center.
Mr. Mathis, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., was a graduate of Crestwood High School, class of 1964. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his mother, Nettie H. Mathis of Portsmouth; one sister, Barbara Jeffrey of Portsmouth; two brothers-in-law, Charles Blount and Clifton Dixon, both of Portsmouth; eight aunts; three uncles; three nieces, Fern Jeffrey, Tonda Blount, both of Portsmouth, Felicia Mathis of New York; one great-niece, Ashley Jeffrey of New York; one nephew, Robert Jeffrey of Portsmouth; one great-nephew, Anthony Jeffrey of Portsmouth.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Thursday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Sidney Foster Jr. Family and friends will assemble at 508 Weaver Circle today at 11:15 a.m. for the procession to the cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home in charge.
