Mary L. Sykes, 72, of the 1400 block of Wilcox Ave., died Oct. 30, 1995, in her home.
Mrs. Sykes, the widow of Thomas C. Sykes Sr., was a native of Ahoskie, N.C. She was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna M. Sykes of Portsmouth; three sons, Thomas C. Sykes Jr., Clifford O. Sykes, and Bruce L. Sykes, all of Portsmouth; one sister, Beatrice Lawrence of Portsmouth; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was predeceased by one daughter, Mary Ryland, and one son, David A. Sykes.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m Friday in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Herman Williams. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday.
