PARKING CHANGES

Demolition for the Courthouse Project which began Oct. 30 has necessitated parking changes for downtown Suffolk.

While the demolition process will be focused primarily on the north side of the project area bordering Main, Bank and Franklin streets with no demolition on the south side of the project area until a later date, all existing monthly parking on the south side of the Woolworth lot will continue until further notice.

Thirty spaces for shopper parking will be available in the old Bank Street Lot and can be accessed from Bank Street, 70 will remain in the center of the Commerce Street Lot for shoppers, as well as 150 spaces in the Cherry Street Lot.

The Franklin Street Parking Lot will continue to be available for free parking to all employees and/or shoppers in the Central Business District during the demolition period. Parking procedures in the Saratoga Street Lot remain unchanged.

Additional data will be provided as the project continues and other elements of the demolition and construction project are brought into play. It is anticipated that this will be a two-year project.
