If you ask the voters in Randy Wright's district why they are voting for him, they say he is a nice man. Do they know how he votes on City Council issues and why he is trying for the clerk of court? If the only reason to vote for Randy Wright is that he is a nice man, let's take up a collection and buy him a gift, not elect him to a $92,000-a-year job.
When asked about pay raises for city employees who make less than one-third the salary of the clerk of court, he said the money would be better spent on sewers and sidewalks. Mr. Wright stated that he wants to bring politics into the courts' job. The courts are no place for politics.
Voters should ask themselves how many times they have seen TV political advertisements for the clerk of court position. Never. Mr. Wright claimed from the beginning that he knew nothing about the job of clerk of court but that he is a fast learner. For $92,000, I could be a fast learner as well.
Voters should think before voting. Do we need any more politics in our lives? No. We need a person who will run the clerk's office smoothly and efficiently - not politically. That person is Al Teich.
