John Henry Battle, of the 2000 block of Dawnee Brook Trail North, died Oct. 30, 1995, in his residence.
He was a native of North Carolina and the widower of Maddie P. Battle. He was a member of Pittman Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Tarboro, N.C., where he was involved in the male choir and usher board.
He is survived by four daughters, Lizzie R. McCray of Conway, Ark., Mary Summerville of Chesapeake, Blummer L. Brown of Broxton, Mass, and Betty Maddox of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Rosa Lee Cooper of Speed, N.C., and Mary L. Betrand of Philadelphia; brother, Sandy Battle of Tarboro; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Edward Leak in Pittman Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The burial will be in Pittman Grove Misionary Baptist Church. The family will assemble at the residence Saturday at 8 a.m. for the procession. The remains will be ready for viewing Friday at 3 p.m. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home in charge.
