Flossie Virginia Alston, 72, of the 7100 block of Chryslon Lane, died Oct. 31, 1995.
She was a retired nurse-aide for Norfolk General Hospital. She was a native of New Kent, Va., and a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, Norfolk, where she was a deaconess board member. She was preceded in death by her parents, Queenie and Lanney Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Alston Sr.; three daughters, Shirley Thornton of Capitol Heights, Md., Joyce Hines of Virginia Beach and Barbara Stewart of Norfolk; two sons, Fred Alston Jr. of Norfolk, Eugene C. Alston of Rougemont, N.C.; sister, Catherine Williams of Hampton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Byron Collins in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Burial is in Forest Lawn Cemetery. There will be a visitation Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in St. Andrew C.O.G.I.C., Norfolk. T.E. Cooke-Twilight Funeral Home in charge. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
