Elsie Reynolds McCormack, 93, loving mother and grandmother, of 504 N. High St., died Nov. 1, 1995, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
A native of Marmet, W. Va., she was the daughter of John Berne and Roberta Salmons Reynolds and the widow of Herbert E. McCormack Sr. Mrs. McCormack attended high school at Lewisburg Seminary, Lewisburg, W. Va., and graduated from Morris-Harvey College with a major in English and a minor in music. She taught school in West Virginia prior to moving to Roanoke, Va., in 1947 where she resided until moving to Franklin to live with her daughter. She was a former member of St. Marks Methodist Church, Charleston, W. Va. and received life membership in Women's Society of Christian Service before moving to Virginia. She was a member of Greene Memorial Methodist Church and Windsor Hills Garden Club of Roanoke, the Ladies Golf Association, and Roanoke Country Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty McCormack Moore; three granddaughters, Katherine Moore Van Voorhis of Ocean Springs, Miss., Cynthia Reynolds Moore of Franklin, and Elizabeth McCormack Brown of Michigan; two grandsons, Steven Thomas Moore and Robert A. Moore III, of Pensacola, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, H.E. McCormack Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sherwood Memorial Park, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, Va. 23851. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
