I contributed both financial support and my vote to a Republican candidate in the past Chesapeake City Council election. I hoped that a change in the composition of the council would eliminate some of the rancor of the past.
I believe that the city of Chesapeake can be more efficiently managed. However, the methods used by the City Council in firing the city manager almost make me ashamed to admit to being a Republican. This is a worst-case example of power politics.
The vicious, vindictive and unprofessional actions of the present Republican City Council require a response. Members' actions have negated any claim for political-party loyalty.
As each of these Republican incumbents come up for re-election, their opponent will have my support and vote.
