The thousands of Norfolk voters who will go to their precinct voting booths on Nov. 7 should now ask themselves this question: Who is the best-qualified candidate for clerk of Norfolk's Circuit Court, which individual in the city has the most knowledge of who would be the best candidate and who does he recommend for the position?
We should not blindly follow recommendations of city councilmen, civic-association leaders and members, political-power groups and others.
We should vote on the recommendation of the present clerk of the Norfolk Circuit Court, William T. Ryan, who recommends Albert Teich Jr. to be the next clerk.
Mr. Ryan, a 73-year-old Democrat, is retiring after 34 years in the Circuit Court clerk's office, the past 10 as clerk of the court.
In a written statement, Ryan praised Teich's experience in the courthouse. ``I can say without hesitation that Al Teich can perform the job of clerk of the Circuit Court starting his very first day on the job.''
We should follow Mr. Ryan's recommendation and vote for Republican Albert Teich Jr. for clerk of Norfolk Circuit Court on Nov. 7.
