Robert Nelson Sprinkle, 71, of the 2000 block of Wood Duck Drive, died Oct. 30, 1995.
Mr. Sprinkle, a retired sales representative, worked for Norfolk Southern Corp. for 36 years. He was a native of Reidsville, N.C., and a member of Sandbridge Community Chapel of the United Methodist Church. He was a founding member and band leader of the Nitty-Gritty Sandband of Sandbridge. They played for organizations and charitable groups in the tidewater area. He was also a member of the Norfolk-Southern Traffic Club.
Survivors include his wife, Oweeda Collins Sprinkle; two daughters, Sheila S. Dunn of Atlanta and Denise S. Martindale of Virginia Beach; one brother, William L. Sprinkle of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Joshua and Justin Sloan of Virginia Beach, and Destiny Dunn of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Edward S. Martin Jr. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
