Mildred Johnson Wyatt, 80, of the 3800 block of Progress Ave., died Nov. 2, 1995, in her home.
Mrs. Wyatt was a native of Chuckatuck and was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife and mother and lifelong Christian. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Suffolk. She was active in her neighborhood civic affairs and had a street, Wyatt Drive, named in her honor. She was instrumental in obtaining school crossing guards for children. She won numerous blue ribbons for her quilts and cooking. She was loved by many and will be missed.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles F. ``Frank'' Wyatt Jr.; and three children, C. Ray Wyatt of Southern Shores, N.C., Claude W. ``Buddy'' Wyatt of Elberon, Va., and Joy Gail Wyatt of Portsmouth; two sisters, Orie Griffin of Suffolk and Dorothy Dunn of Norfolk; one brother, Irving Johnson of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Joy Dawn Wyatt Bracero, Paul Wayne Wyatt, Stephen Hodges Wyatt, all of Suffolk, Charles R. Wyatt Jr. and Kathy Wyatt Morgan of Kitty Hawk; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson, John David Wyatt.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, by the Rev. Damon E. Wyatt and Rev. Lew Hunter. Burial will be in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening.
