Gene Francis James, 67, of Tharp Road, Seaford, Del., died Oct. 31, 1995, in his home.
He was a block operator for Con Rail for 41 years until he retired in 1988. He was also self-employed in the printing and advertising business for 47 years. He was a graduate of Northampton High School, Eastville, Va., and attended Smith Deal-Massey Business College, Richmond. Mr. James was a member of Broadwater Masonic Lodge AF & AM Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Cookman James.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Hastings James; and his mother, Sue Sturgis James of Exmore, Va.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Seaford, by the Rev. John Edwin Taylor. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. in Onancock Cemetery, Onancock, Va. Doughty Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
