BAY WATCHDOG

With all the negative campaign rhetoric, it is difficult to identify issues or the positive features of a candidate for public office. Let me offer the fact that in the Virginia House of Delegates, Howard Copeland ably chairs the Chesapeake and Its Tributaries Committee and has positively supported all efforts to improve the Chesapeake Bay.

He co-sponsored the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act and is leading the fight to save the blue-crab industry in Virginia. If he is unseated by his local opponents, it is likely that he will be replaced by an individual who is no friend to the Bay.

Local economy, recreational access and our quality of life are intimately tied to a healthy Chesapeake Bay. I urge support for Howard Copeland on Tuesday for delegate. He's our watchdog for the Bay.
