GERALD H. O'BRIEN

U.S. Navy Retired Capt. Gerald H. O'Brien, 56, died Nov. 2, 1995, in his residence.

He was a retired captain in the U.S. Navy after 24 years and also worked as an engineering consultant with Sea World Marine Services in Norfolk. He was a native of New Bedford, Mass., and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was also a member of Masters Gardeners, American Society of Naval Engineers, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Retired Officers Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4809, and the National Arbor Day Foundation. He was a veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra E. O'Brien; two daughters, Louise Ann Noona of Virginia Beach and Kathleen Anne Locke of Charlottesville, Va.; son, Gerald H. O'Brien Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Maureen McKay of Mashpee, Mass., and Jane Estrella of New Bedford; brother, Robert L. O'Brien of Manchester, Conn.; grandson, Sean Westley Noona of Virginia Beach; two sons-in-law, Stephen E. Noona of Virginia Beach, and Edward P. Locke of Charlottesville, Va.

A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday by Father Christian J. Haydinger in Hampton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Road, Norfolk, 23513. Navy honors will be accorded at the site. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, in charge of arrangements.
