James Allen Jones, 81, of the 5300 block of Bayside Road, died Nov. 2, 1995.
He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 38 years and he was a native of Southampton County, Drewryville, Va. He was the widower of Bessie Goodman Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of Eastern Light Masonic Lodge (NU)4 in Norfolk.
He is survived by daughter, Palmeda J. Outlaw of Yorktown; son, Ashley A. Jones of Portsmouth; sister, Romania Bowe of Long Island, N.Y.; brother, John T. Jones of Norfolk; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; one daughter-in-law, Barbara W. Jones; and one son-in-law, Bruce K.E. Outlaw.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon Monday by the Rev. Cary Johnson Jr. in Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk. Burial is in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive guests at 5381 Bayside Road, Virginia Beach, and they will assemble at 11 a.m. for the funeral procession on Monday.
