CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS

The City Council took the following actions at its meeting Wednesday:

Consideration of an application for grant funding for a Civil War site. After no one spoke in favor or against the proposal, the Council considered a motion to apply for the grant. Approved 7-0

A. An ordinance to accept and appropriate $720,000 from the Commonwealth of Virginia to the School Operating Fund. Approved 7-0B. An ordinance to appropriate funds for full-time transit worker positions - Second Reading. Approved 7-0C. An ordinance accepting and appropriating a grant award in the amount of $5,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice under the ``Troops to Cops'' grant program - First Reading. No vote on first readingD. An ordinance amending Chapter 20 of the Code of Laws of the City of Suffolk, Virginia, entitled ``Police'' to include Article II, False Alarms, Sections 20-6 - 20-13 - First Reading. No vote on first readingE. An ordinance appropriating $31,600 from the General Fund Unappropriated Fund Balance for settlement of computer services - First Reading. No vote on first readingA. A resolution approving the issuance of Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority MultiFamily Revenue Bonds, 1995 Series A, for the Prince William Commons Project in Prince William County, Va. Approved, 7-0

B. A resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to include River Creek Drive, North River Creek Landing, South River Creek Landing, and River Creek Crescent in the River Creek Subdivision into the state secondary road system. Approved, 7-0C. A resolution requesting that the Virginia Department of Transportation reduce the speed limit on Route 13, Whaleyville Boulevard, from the North Carolina state line to Whaleyville. Approved, 5-2A. Consideration of a request from Holly's Inc., for a one-year extension of the conditional use permit C29-94 which was previously issued by City Council on Jan. 18, 1995, to Harbourview Partners from a materials resource recovery facility on Town Point Road. Approved, 7-0B. To establish a City Council work session for Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. unless canceled. Approved, 7-0 by CNB
