Jesse Ervin Gary, 73, of 27117 Old Church Road, died Nov. 2, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center, Norfolk.
He was a native of Conway, N.C., and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Pleasant Plain Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia P. Gary; two daughters, Eunice Perry of Portsmouth, Pamela Warren of Courtland; three sons, James Stephens of Washington, D.C., Karl Gary of Drewryville, and Gerald Gary of Portsmouth; four sisters, Lydia Ivey of Drewryville, Mazene Smith of Norfolk, Pearlene Joyner of Boykins, and Luzene Moore of Suffolk; two brothers, Ellis Gary of Drewryville, and Emmett Gary of Washington, D.C.; and nine grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Louis Collins III. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Knox Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
