It's happened three times in the past several weeks. I have been driving behind young adults who have ecologically minded bumper stickers on the back of their cars - Protect the Earth, Save the Chesapeake Bay. We stop at a traffic light, and as I sit behind them I watch it happen: They toss smoking cigarette butts out of their car windows onto the street.
Isn't there something really wrong with this picture?
My message to these young people: You'd better ``drive the talk'' you espouse or else you look like a hypocrite and you diminish respect for your cause. You need to re-evaluate your personal commitment to responsible ecological behavior. Either commit yourself totally or, please, remove your bumper stickers.
