JAMES M. SAWYER

James M. Sawyer, 86, of the 200 block of Hinton Ave., a retired ship builder, died Nov. 4, 1995, in Maryview Medical Center.

Mr. Sawyer was born in Norfolk County and was the widower of Dorothy Sawyer. He was a member of Divine Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was retired from Brooklyn Naval Shipyard.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelia Sawyer of West Chester, Pa.; a brother, Willie Sawyer of Brooklyn, N.Y.; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in Divine Baptist Church by the Rev. J.R. Briggs. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at 2 p.m. today in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
