CRIME LINE

Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases: Norfolk 664-4040

On Oct. 21, about 10 a.m., a man entered the Signet Bank branch in the 2000 block of Granby St. and handed a teller a note. In it, he demanded money and implied that he had a weapon.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled.

The suspect is described as black, 25 to 30 years old, 5 to 5 feet 2 inches tall, and about 145 pounds. He had a dark complexion and noticeable wrinkles or bags under his eyes.

Andre Yates, 21, is wanted for aggravated assault.

Yates is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds.

His last known address was in the 800 block of C Avenue.

He frequents the Church Street area and should be considered armed and dangerous. Portsmouth 488-7777

On Oct. 8, about 8:30 p.m., a couple were in their home in the 5100 block of Sweetbriar Circle when two men armed with handguns entered the home through a side entrance near the garage.

They first confronted the husband, forcing him to go upstairs where his wife was sitting in the bedroom watching TV. The suspects demanded money.

The husband attempted to escape, but one of the suspects jumped him and stopped him. The suspects then took a large amount of cash and fled.

The first suspect is described as black, in his 20s and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing a dark green three-quarter length coat.

The second suspect is described as black, in his early 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing blue jeans and a green and yellow plaid shirt.

Both suspects had short hair, light complexions and were carrying small caliber handguns. Virginia Beach 427-0000

On Oct. 19, about 11:30 p.m., a 20-year old mentally handicapped woman was reported missing from the 3500 block of Alister Court.

She was located late the following night near Military Circle in Norfolk and said she had been abducted on Holland Road and raped.

She reported being abducted by three men in a white vehicle on Holland Road near Shipps Corner. She said she was taken to a red and white house where she was raped.

The men are described as black in their late teens or early 20s, all about 6 feet tall.

One man had a muscular build, dreadlocks and a gold front tooth.

Another had a light complexion and the name ``Marcus'' cut into the back of his box-style haircut.

The third was wearing a white jumpsuit and a ski mask. Hampton 722-9800

On Oct. 21, about 3:40 p.m., a male walked into the Book 'N Nook Card Store in the 1100 block of W. Mercury Blvd. and handed a clerk a note demanding money. In it, he warned that if she did not comply, he would shoot her.

The clerk gave the man money and he fled.

The suspect is described as black, 18 to 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 165 pounds. He was wearing a gray jacket, gray pants and a black ball cap. Chesapeake 487-1234

On Sept. 10, at about 10 p.m., David Demarco was robbed and beaten as he delivered a pizza in the 3200 block of American Legion Road.

Demarco remains in critical condition in a local hospital.
