Estella J. Bradley of the 700 block of Marcus St., a retired nurse, died Nov. 4, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Bradley was born in Pinetop, N.C., and was retired from the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in May 1975. She was the widow of Lewis Bradley and was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk, the No. 2 Usher Board, Gospel Jubilee Choir and the Nurse's Aide Club. She was a 1953 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She was a member of Maude Armstrong Chapter (NU)190 and matron since Nov. 25, 1978; Order of the Eastern Star Prince Hall Affiliation, Chesapeake; recipient of a Certificate of Appreciation; Veterans Administration Medical Center, Hampton; Chesapeake Council of Civic Organizations, Community Service Award, June 1994, December 1984; Virginia State Department of Health, 1958-1988; Les Enfermara Social & Civic Club, 1951-1987; Chesapeake Crime Prevention Council, Outstanding Certificate 1987-1988; Virginia Crime Prevention Association, 1985-1989.
Survivors include two sisters, Irene Brown of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Maggie Parham of Oxon Hill, Md.; a devoted niece and her children, Sally Tillery, Calvin, Clayton Tillery; and a host of nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. I. Joseph Williams. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A wake service will be held at Metropolitan Funeral Service from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Friends will assemble with the family at 711 Marcus St., Chesapeake, at noon Wednesday for the funeral procession to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Personal Photo
