Ruth Scarborough Pope, 94, died Monday Nov. 6, 1995, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Pope was a life long resident of Southampton County and was the widow of Percy Ashby Pope. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin James and Lillie Fuller Scarborough. She was the former owner and operator of P.A. Pope's Store in Capron, and was a member of Capron United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Thelma P. Roberts of Shawboro, N.C., and Ethel ``Dick'' Francis of Capron; one son, James D. ``Punk'' Pope, also of Capron; one sister, Doris S. Blow of Hampton; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Capron Cemetery by the Rev. Louis A. Martin. The family will receive friends at Dick Francis' home at 22292 Carys Bridge Road in Capron and suggest that memorials be made to the Capron Methodist Church, Capron Rescue Squad or a favorite charity. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
