The Virginia Tech-Virginia game a week from Saturday in Charlottesville will be televised by ABC at noon, the network said Monday.
The Nov. 18 broadcast will be one of two in that time slot, with Michigan-Penn State also airing on ABC. A spokesman at the network said the breakdown of what percentage of the country will get each game has not been determined yet.
Both Virginia (No. 14 by The AP, 13th in USA Today-CNN) and Virginia Tech (21st and 19th) are coming off big wins last week that moved them into first place in their respective conferences. The Cavaliers upset ACC-leading and second-ranked Florida State, and Virginia Tech knocked off Big East leader and 20th-rated Syracuse.
Virginia-Virginia Tech has never been broadcast by a major over-the-air network. The game was televised by cable networks ESPN in 1990 and WTBS in 1982, and has appeared on both the Big East and ACC regional broadcasts. by CNB
