WHRO and The Consortium for Interactive Instruction are sponsoring the 11th annual Technology in Education Conference Nov. 17 and 18 at Ruffner Middle School.
This event sets the stage for educators to make strides toward incorporating technology in classroom learning. The conference features more than 100 sessions and hands-on workshops on such topics as exploring the Internet, global classrooms, integrated technology systems for schools and classroom applications of laser disc programs.
Workshops will begin at 1 p.m. Nov. 17 and continue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 18. An awards ceremony for educator and administrator of the year, with keynote speech to be given by Tracey L. Bailey, the 1993 national teacher of the year, is scheduled for Nov. 18.
The Consortium for Interactive Instruction is a user-funded, user-directed consortium consisting of 16 public school divisions, 10 independent schools and one institution representing nearly 250,000 students and more than 23,000 teachers in Southeastern Virginia.
